Permanent Residents of HeartsHerd

The profiles below are the founding members of the Herd. They are the inspiration which drove the establishment of HeartsHerd Animal Sanctuary and Rescue Center.

Although they are “permanent residents”, due to their circumstances, they are still ready to share their hearts and affection with visitors and through your sponsorship.

SADIE… Sadie was a Christmas gift. She was then dropped off at the shelter 2 days later. WILLIE… Willie Pete is by all intents, a dairy goat. He however is “less” desirable than a female for milking! Male dairy goats do not have that great of luck unless people realize they still make GREAT pets!
GRETCHEN… Was to be sold at a meat auction, her eyes told us different. STAR… Star was a part of the mounted police along time ago. After program was ended he found a wonderful home. Star’s owner was killed in a car crash. He is still timid to this day I believe from missing her. He shows no confidence of a police horse, but all the love of a pet!
LUCY AND DESI… Domestic geese let loose to be wild after owners were bored with them. Lucy was the last survivor of a flock of 40 being killed by neighborhood dogs. Desi was found on the river not knowing how to “be wild”. OSCAR… Oscar was a wonderful Christmas surprise. He had been purchased as a lead horse for a team of Clydesdales but was too “lazy” to pull his weight. We were able to get him for a very reasonable fee instead of him going to auction.
SIR… Sir is our newest love to the sanctuary. Thought to be one of our own but showing up with some “extra baggage”… He is now “baggage free” and staying! MEZZI… Mezzi was found in the hood of our car. She made it into the side panel. We never made it to work but we did finally get the car back together.
